Various Natural Skin Lighteners For Hyperpigmentation

There are two types of skin pigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is the type due to excessive production of melanin that results in dark and tan spots on skin. It is also known as Melasma. Hypopigmentation is the name given to the type when the melanin production in the body is reduced and light skin patches appear all over the body. This is also known by the name of Vitiligo.

Thankfully, there are many natural remedies that can help one in reducing the appearance of these dark spots to a great extent. Here is a list of natural skin lighteners for hyperpigmentation

Potatoes

POTATOPredators are an excellent source of starch. These are also extremely useful for treating hyperpigmentation, dark circles and other skin problems. There are multiple ways of using potatoes.

You need to peel a potato and then cut it into several thick pieces. Now you need to put some water on the potato and put that on your skin for a period of 5 to 10 min. Rinse off your face with lukewarm water. This needs to be repeated 3 to 4 times a day and you may start seeing results within 3 to 4 weeks.

You need to squeeze some juice out of potato by grating it. Mix equal amount of lemon juice into the potato juice and apply it on the affected skin spots. Keep the juice there for a period of 20 to 30 min and then wash it off with lukewarm water. It is recommended to do this at least twice on a daily basis for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.

Lemon

Lemon is one of the most popular ingredients for home treatment of hyperpigmentation. It has citric acid which is a natural bleaching agent. Again, there are multiple ways of using lemon to treat hyperpigmentation.

LemonYou can squeeze out fresh lemons juice and apply that lemon juice with the help of a cotton ball on the spots. Keep the juice on your spots for a period of 10 to 15 min and then wash it with you warm water. It is recommended to use this remedy at least twice a day for some months.

You can also use lemon by mixing it with honey in equal parts in the form of a facial mask. After applying the mixture onto the spots, cover it with warm towel for a period of 15 to 20 min. Rinse it off with warm water. It is recommended to do this treatment at least once a week for a period of a few months.

Avocados

This fruit is rich in the enzymes that can help in treating hyperpigmentation. For using this fruit, you need to mash the pulp in an even manner. This pulp needs to be applied on the face and kept there for a period of 15 to 20 min. Rinse it off with warm water.

AvocadoIt is recommended to use this treatment on a daily basis for a few months. Also, instead of keeping the pulp on your skin, you may also squeeze out juice directly from the fruit on the affected spots.

It is important to mention here that some people may be allergic to the latex enzymes in this fruit. Therefore, it is recommended to do a patch test before using it on a regular basis.

Sandal Powder

Sandal is extremely popular for its soothing properties in Ayurveda. It helps in giving a smooth texture to the skin. This should be used on a regular basis to heal the discoloration and for soothing the skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV has tons of medicinal uses. You can drink it and can also apply it on the skin for many other things. It also helps in reducing the appearance of dark spots on skin. It will not only help in lightening the skin tone but will also help in restoring the natural color of the skin.

Apple Cider VinegarTo use ACV, you need to take equal amounts of water and ACV. This mixture should be used to rinse off the affected area after keeping it on the spots for up to 3 min. It is recommended to use this remedy at least twice for 3 to 4 weeks.

You can also make a mixture of two parts of ACV and one part of honey in half a glass of warm water. You can drink this solution twice a day for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.

Other than the above-mentioned natural remedies, use of aloe vera, cucumber, papaya, coconut, pomegranate and orange peels powder work wonders for reducing the appearance of dark spots. Other than these natural remedies, drinking a lot of water and having a balanced diet also helps in reducing the appearance of the dark spots.
